Some tid bits from the Chronicles of Narnia

I titled this post exactly to the topic that I am going to talk about. I am not a huge fan of the Chronicles of Narnia since I have not read the whole series but I do find that there are many good quotes from the series that can be applied to the Christian life. Some say that the series is suppose to be Christian and that some characters signify this and some signify that, but I don't really care if they do or not or even if they were meant to be written like that. A good Christian knows how to apply the teachings of Christ in any literary form whether it is a book or a movie or something else like a play. But anyways here is the first quote that I would like to mention and it comes from the book The Magician's Nephew. This is book six of the series and goes on to explain the origins of Narnia and the White witch, Jadis so that the reader can have some background information to the first book in the series. Here is the quote:

Aslan: Son of Adam. Are you ready to undo the wrong that you have done to my sweet country of Narnia on the very day of its birth?
Digory: Well, I don't see what I can do, you see, the Queen ran away and---.
Aslan: I asked, are you ready.
Digory: Yes.

This is a very powerful quote when compared to our Father in Heaven and how He wants to work in us. Read this quote again. Substitute the words God for Aslan and you for Digory. Read it again. God is asking us individually to do certain task for His Kingdom and sometimes we respond like Digory saying "I don't know how?" or "What can I do?" But God isn't just saying "Here's what I want you to do, now go and do it." He is saying "I want you to do this, will you let ME HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH IT?" God is willing to help us and sometimes we think we have to do this all on our own but God is really saying "This isn't going to be humanly possible for you to do, so are you going to trust ME as you begin this task?" Maybe in your situation God is really like Aslan and is saying "You need to do this, will you?" And this is when we have to get honest before God and tell Him either yes I will or No I can't. But let me get to my next quote from the first book The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe between Mr. Tumnus and Lucy as they see Aslan walking away off on a new adventure. Mr. Tumnus is trying to comfort Lucy as she is sad that Aslan is leaving and he makes this statement:

Mr. Tumnus: He's not a tame lion.
Lucy: No, but he is good.

It's true Aslan cannot be told what to do as he is the ruler of Narnia, but whatever he decides to do is good no matter what the outcome is. Now insert the word God for the word lion and read this quote again. I cannot describe the wisdom that those few words mention about our God and how He is. God cannot be Tamed by man. He is not bound by any human law. But no matter what God decides to do, it always turns out good and that is something to be very thankful for. So what have I mention here? First, God wants you to take the first step and obey Him, no excuses. He is right there to help even if its that preparatory stage where we must get ourselves ready to obey. Second, that God is not bound by man, He is wild. He does what He wants when He wants, but Whatever He does comes out Good in its result. Think about this and apply it to your life....Maybe God is trying to tell you to trust Him even though it seems crazy or your not comfortable. With God being a wild God and untameable He is going to do things that are uncomfortable, but remember He knows best, and He doesn't care if you feel out of place, people need to be reached and souls saved.
