Some tid bits from the Chronicles of Narnia

I titled this post exactly to the topic that I am going to talk about. I am not a huge fan of the Chronicles of Narnia since I have not read the whole series but I do find that there are many good quotes from the series that can be applied to the Christian life. Some say that the series is suppose to be Christian and that some characters signify this and some signify that, but I don't really care if they do or not or even if they were meant to be written like that. A good Christian knows how to apply the teachings of Christ in any literary form whether it is a book or a movie or something else like a play. But anyways here is the first quote that I would like to mention and it comes from the book The Magician's Nephew. This is book six of the series and goes on to explain the origins of Narnia and the White witch, Jadis so that the reader can have some background information to the first book in the series. Here is the quote:

Aslan: Son of Adam. Are you ready to undo the wrong that you have done to my sweet country of Narnia on the very day of its birth?
Digory: Well, I don't see what I can do, you see, the Queen ran away and---.
Aslan: I asked, are you ready.
Digory: Yes.

This is a very powerful quote when compared to our Father in Heaven and how He wants to work in us. Read this quote again. Substitute the words God for Aslan and you for Digory. Read it again. God is asking us individually to do certain task for His Kingdom and sometimes we respond like Digory saying "I don't know how?" or "What can I do?" But God isn't just saying "Here's what I want you to do, now go and do it." He is saying "I want you to do this, will you let ME HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH IT?" God is willing to help us and sometimes we think we have to do this all on our own but God is really saying "This isn't going to be humanly possible for you to do, so are you going to trust ME as you begin this task?" Maybe in your situation God is really like Aslan and is saying "You need to do this, will you?" And this is when we have to get honest before God and tell Him either yes I will or No I can't. But let me get to my next quote from the first book The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe between Mr. Tumnus and Lucy as they see Aslan walking away off on a new adventure. Mr. Tumnus is trying to comfort Lucy as she is sad that Aslan is leaving and he makes this statement:

Mr. Tumnus: He's not a tame lion.
Lucy: No, but he is good.

It's true Aslan cannot be told what to do as he is the ruler of Narnia, but whatever he decides to do is good no matter what the outcome is. Now insert the word God for the word lion and read this quote again. I cannot describe the wisdom that those few words mention about our God and how He is. God cannot be Tamed by man. He is not bound by any human law. But no matter what God decides to do, it always turns out good and that is something to be very thankful for. So what have I mention here? First, God wants you to take the first step and obey Him, no excuses. He is right there to help even if its that preparatory stage where we must get ourselves ready to obey. Second, that God is not bound by man, He is wild. He does what He wants when He wants, but Whatever He does comes out Good in its result. Think about this and apply it to your life....Maybe God is trying to tell you to trust Him even though it seems crazy or your not comfortable. With God being a wild God and untameable He is going to do things that are uncomfortable, but remember He knows best, and He doesn't care if you feel out of place, people need to be reached and souls saved.

so who's a Christian?

I have been thinking alot about this thing that everyone seems to love called grace. I always hear people mainly conservative Christians talk about oh grace this and oh grace that, I'm saved by grace and Jesus' grace was so abundant. Well I think there needs to be a clarification to all this. It is the idea of grace that saves us. God has grace and because of this He gives of the OPportunity to be saved, grace doesn't save us, it gives us the opportunity to be saved. If you believe predestination, well my friend, the topic isn't going to go your way at all, so you could continue reading or just skip to the next post. But back to what i was saying...Grace is God giving you the opportunity to be saved, not saving you. God saved you when He had Jesus die on the cross, that was what saved us as people. So when you say salvation is all about grace, well its just not all about grace. Salvation is the gift that God gives to you when u Believe that Jesus is real, died for your sins, rose from the grave, and continues to live in Heaven today. Then you are given Salvation. Its not until you Believe!!!! So how can I tell that you truly Believe in Jesus? Well actions speak louder than words my friend. When you talk to God, when you listen to God, when you Obey what God tells you, then I know that you truly believe in God and His gift. You see, salvation isn't a gift of good will.....its a relationship with God, or specifically in human terms, its a marriage to God. When a person becomes a Christian, he takes a vow to Listen, Talk, Obey, and Trust God with his entire life, kinda like you would to a spouse. The only difference is in layman's terms: God has the pants in this relationship. He tells you what he wants you to do like go on a short-term mission trip, or attend a certain university or college, or become a member and partaker of a local church, or even teach or preach to people you don't even know. This is what it means to be a Christian, to do be in a specific and real relationship with Christ. I shouldn't have to tell you what isn't a relationship with Christ because you know what isn't, but you may not know what is. So what are u going to do now? Are u going to pursue a real relationship with Christ? Are you going to take Him seriously? Or are u going to read this post and pass it off as just nonsense because your too scared to make that commitment to God. I hope you will pursue a real relationship with Christ because He is waiting for you to, He has so much in store for you that what I say here couldn't possibly begin to describe the blessings and growth He has for you.

Holy Spirit anybody?

Last week I heard some great preaching and every message I was spoken to by God himself. I finally realized what God has been trying to tell me and He finally got to me. One thing I learned about the Holy Spirit is this: if you want to live the Christian life you need Him to work in you and that would require Him to be present in you. The Holy Spirit has to be the Christian's guide in this life. You are only give 70 or less years so make the most of this life listening to Him. Do you ever listen to the Spirit? Do you take time to hear His voice in your life? If you are a Christian do you even listen to God or just pretend. God doesn't take too kindly to games. He wants our attention and our lives. To play games with God only makes you( the Christian) look stupid. Its like pledging allegiance to America, but joining the Terrorists every once in a while or the communists here and there. Think about that. Now you must determine who you will serve....God or yourself?

What do u Believe in?

So I was with a bunch of friends one Saturday night and we were all talking and having fun and somehow we got to talking about spiritual things like denominations and such and one of my friends said something about a certain subject that really struck a chord. He said something about the "Unforgivable Sin" which was blaspheming the Holy Spirit. I starting thinking about this and I realized how in err he was. The Bible never says anything about an "Unforgivable Sin" but it does say this.... that if we blaspheme the Holy Spirit you are going to hell. Now one has to think logically about this....What is blaspheming the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is a spirit...if you say He will die, well He is a spirit...that's not possible. If you wish bad things on It, well the Holy Spirit doesn't discipline physically just convicts. What then can be considered Blaspheming? When you deny the Holy Spirit access to your life and spiritual growth then you are blaspheming the Holy Spirit since that is the only part of Him that he can affect the spiritual growth of your life. And how do you deny the Holy Spirit access to your life? Well the only way to obtain the Holy Spirit is to believe that Jesus died for your sins and that loyalty to and belief in Him is what gives you a membership to Heaven. So if there was an"Unforgivable Sin" it would be denying Christ ownership of your life. And this makes sense since those who are nonchristians do not have forgiveness and will never have it. So this "Unforgivable Sin" is not cursing the Holy Spirit or other things that you may think of, its really not becoming a Christian. I just wanted to mention this story because so many of us(Christians) are out there not knowing anything about what we believe in or our knowledge is very basic. You should know what you believe in and it should have Biblical merit before you discuss or talk about it otherwise you will hurt the cause of Christ by confusing people about the message of the Bible, which is a very big sin in itself.
